Born in Colchester, Essex.
Father: Medical Practitioner.
Mother: Nursing sister.
1952 emigrated to Northern Rhodesia (Zambia).

Educated at Chisipite Junior and Senior Schools in Salisbury (Harare), Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe).
Obsessed with horses, riding and wildlife, from the age of two, and have had the privilege to be able to indulge that passion, continually, ever since.

1964 Returned to England to attend the City and Guilds of London Art School, followed by Southampton Art College, where I was first able to study sculpture, and gaining a degree in Fine Art from Winchester School of Art, where I was advised to give up sculpture as I clearly had no facility for it.

1965 In between the London and Southampton colleges, I spent a year working with horses at the first Western style riding ranch to open in England - living out the cowboy fantasy!

1970 Met and married Richard at Marwell Zoological Park in Hampshire, where he was working as the large cat curator, gathering a collection of rare species for breeding and conservation. During this time, I spent as much time as possible studying and drawing the various animals in the collection, from Siberian tigers to Scimitar horned oryx.
Two daughters were gathered along the way - they, too, being exposed to as much variety of wildlife as was available.

1973 Moved to Eire to farm on a small island off the southwestern coast of Eire, using old-fashioned traditional methods with horse and cart/plough.

1975 Returned to England to work at Howletts Zoo in Kent, where I once more spent as much time as possible studying and recording the various animals visually, with many days spent among the tigers and gorillas.During this time I gained a British Horse Society teaching qualification, which I continued to use whilst working in a local riding school.

1980 Returned to Zimbabwe, Rhodesia just before that country's independence, and spent several years goldmining on private small workings in the bush; electrifying the mainly steam railway system, teaching art at Secondary Schools, assisting the set up of a fish farm, and creating our own dairy farm out of the bush, which provided many an opportunity for handling and recording wildlife, from snakes and hyenas to kudu and leopard.

1984 Returned to England for economic and children's educational reasons, settling in Kent for several years. I continued to be involved with horses, breaking and schooling them to both ride and drive. competing in all disciplines, and work riding on point-to-point racehorses. During this time, whilst moving around Kent doing various different jobs, I acquired a Spanish Andalusian horse, in addition to several wayward and assorted cats.

1988 A move to Devon introduced me to Classical Dressage, which has become an all-encompassing passion! In addition, an inability to find suitable saddles, spurred me into training and working for over 15 years, to become a saddler, and I now hold the status of Master Saddler after those years of hard work and dedication to the horses I try and help.

I currently reside, with my husband and ancient cat, in the outskirts of a Wiltshire village, where I design and construct individually' made saddles, and from where I draw inspiration from everything around me - the endless variety of bird and mammalian wildlife, to the more domestic cats, dogs and farm animals, as well as my beloved horses, - and of course, all my past contact with African wildlife.
